Prime Goes 'Back to the Basics'

August, 2000 – Prime Inc., a leading international refrigerated, flatbed and liquid bulk truckload carrier headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, is continually recognized for utilizing the latest technology. However, according to Randy Price, Prime's Manager of Corporate Security, the company has gone "back to the basics" in its most recent security efforts.

Prime is taking a proactive approach in combating theft and other crimes by numbering the tops of its trailers. The numbers make the trailers easy to identify from elevated positions or from the sky. The security measure, though not high-tech, has proven successful. "Whereas technology can be disabled, it is difficult to destroy this technique," says Les Hazen, Prime's Director of Maintenance.

Prime works in conjunction with law enforcement agencies across the nation in its security efforts, relying in part on military support. "Now that the United States Military is relinquishing older aircraft to federal, state and local law enforcement, more and more police agencies can afford to purchase and maintain this type of equipment," says Price, "which ultimately provides a potential witness in the sky."
