At Prime, we offer truck drivers the opportunity to become business owners. These drivers are often referred to as independent contractors or owner-operators. They have the freedom and flexibility to choose their routes, equipment, home time and more. For owner-operators, there’s no better trucking company to team up with than Prime. With our attractive equipment lease terms, competitive pay plans and Start Right Program, it’s an easy decision to drive for Prime.
Owner-operators can take advantage of the various job opportunities available to them at Prime. Whether you’re looking to join our flatbed division or the refrigerated division sounds more your speed, we offer independent contractor positions throughout the United States.
We always have over-the-road positions available for owner-operators looking to explore the open road and travel across the United States.
If you’re an owner-operator who’s looking to stay closer to home, Prime has various regional truck driving positions. For the following regional driving jobs, you can expect to stay within a 300-mile radius.
Dedicated owner-operators usually deliver freight for one company. Because you only deliver to one customer, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know the people you regularly interact with, along with their processes.
Prime offers several team trucking jobs for drivers who want to become owner-operators and partner up with another driver. At Prime, we offer owner-operator teams the chance to increase their earnings via quarterly mileage bonuses.
Owner-operators that team up with Prime can join our Refrigerated Division. Drivers who transport refrigerated freight have several opportunities, including over-the-road and dedicated positions.
Flatbed trucking can be demanding. However, that also means that driving a flatbed truck can be incredibly rewarding. Prime offers owner-operators several openings ranging from over-the-road flatbed trucking jobs to regional jobs throughout the United States.
Owner-operators who drive for Prime’s Tanker Division haul edible liquids, like cooking oil and wine, primarily. You’ll also have the opportunity to transport inedible liquids, including those used as ingredients in dog food.
Drivers who aspire to be owner-operators have access to various Intermodal regional truck driving jobs. Because these positions are regional, you’ll stay closer to home, which allows for more home time.
Prime is widely known as one of the best paying trucking companies in the United States. Both company drivers and owner-operators can expect competitive pay rates that are in line with industry standards. Here’s what you can expect to make, before expenses, as an owner-operator with Prime:
Independent contractors hauling refrigerated trailers earn 72% of the freight bill.
Independent contractors hauling flatbed trailers earn 72% of each freight bill.
Independent contractors hauling tanker trailers earn 71% of each freight bill.
Who wouldn’t want to be their own boss? At Prime, we support your career goals. We are dedicated to the success of our owner-operators. As a result, we offer industry-leading rewards and incentives to our network of independent contractors.
We make it incredibly easy for you to get into a new or used semi-truck. You won't be subjected to a credit check or have to put money down before you acquire your new rig.
As an owner-operator, you're responsible for maintaining your semi-truck. We work with fuel stops and repair locations across the country to offer discounts to our owner-operators.
For owner-operators who are with Prime for the long-haul, we offer up to $1,500 per year in incentives for each year you've been a driver.
For new drivers looking to become owner-operators, you must obtain your Class A CDL. Drivers with no previous experience will start as company drivers and begin their journey through Prime’s Driver Training Program. Once you’ve completed our training program, you’ll have the opportunity to “upgrade,” allowing you to lease a truck and become an owner-operator.
