Standard Lease vs lease purchase

Purchasing a commercial truck outright is expensive, and most don’t have the financial resources at their disposal for that to be a viable option. Leasing can be a welcome alternative. Success Leasing offers both Standard Lease and Lease Purchase programs for Prime drivers who want to lease a truck. As an independent contractor, it’s important that you evaluate all of your options. View the options below to discover which option best suits your needs.

The below is a summary of the Success Leasing programs. Actual contract terms may vary and costs are subject to change. Residents of CA & NJ are not eligible to become independent contractors with Prime.

Standard Lease

If you’re a professional truck driver and ready to operate as an independent contractor, then consider taking advantage of the standard lease option to get your business rolling! Success Leasing can lease you a truck with no money down and no credit check.

No Money Down + No Credit Check

No money is required to get started with the standard lease. At the end of the lease term, you turn the truck back in to Success Leasing.
Late-Model Equipment

Get into the seat of a new Freightliner, Peterbilt, or International truck.
Success Protection Package

All trucks are covered by OEM warranty and the Success Drive Train Warranty. 30/60 Day Success Leasing Warranty for all pre-lease trucks.
Loaner Truck Program

If your truck is unable to haul freight for an extended period of time, Success Leasing will provide a temporary replacement truck at no additional charge so you can continue to operate.

Fixed Costs

There is a fixed cost of approximately $100 per week which you will incur to your truck. This covers permits, truck plates, and truck-related costs.
End of Lease Incentive

Earn 5.25 cents for all authorized dispatched miles. An amount equal to the excess mileage is also paid. Average full lease completion is $17k+ for solo trucks!
Breakdown Pay

Breakdown pay due to mechanical failures is available after the first 24 hours. $225 for a solo contractor and $290 for a team contractor. See Leasing for full details.

As an independent contractor, you will have full access to the Prime Inc. network of shops, services, and rates to keep your truck running smoothly.

Standard Lease Program Guide

Lease Purchase

The Success Lease Purchase Program is an affordable way to lease purchase a new or used truck from a vast
inventory of Freightliner, Peterbilt, and International truck models. You can be an owner operator without the hassle of having your credit approved through a loan office. The lease purchase program is a convenient way to own your own truck
while still having the option to walk away from the purchase at the end of the term.

No Credit Check

No credit check is required to get started with the lease purchase program through Success Leasing so you don't have to hassle with a credit approval process.
Money Down

$14,000 down payment to lease purchase a truck. A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 will be due at the time of order with the remainder being due at the signing of the lease purchase agreement.
Tenure Credit

If you are independent contractor with Prime, you earn $1,000 down payment credit per current consecutive year of leasing with a maximum of 6 years or $6,000 credit.

Late-Model Equipment

Get into a 2021 model or newer Freightliner, Peterbilt, or International truck.
Loaner Truck Program

If your truck is unable to haul freight for an extended period of time, Success Leasing will provide a temporary replacement truck if inventory is available and with partial charges for fixed costs.
Prime Inc. Maintenance

As an independent contractor, you will have full access to the Prime Inc. network of shops, services, and rates to keep your truck running smoothly.

Lease Purchase Program Guide

Owner Operator Specs

If you own your own truck and want to bring it to Prime Inc’s fleet, here are the requirements for refrigerated, flatbed and tanker divisions that you need to meet to drive under Prime’s DOT authority.

Refrigerated

Must be 2022 model or newer
Trucks are reviewed for renewal every five years.
Wheelbase: 244” or less
Weight: 18,200 lbs or less with ¼ tank of fuel, gear and driver on board.
Must be equipped with roll stability and a collision avoidance system.
All trucks are governed 65 mph

Flatbed

Must be 2022 model or newer
Trucks are reviewed for renewal every five years.
Wheelbase: 265” or less
Weight: 20,200 lbs or less with ¼ tank of fuel, gear and driver on board.
Must be equipped with roll stability and a collision avoidance system.
All trucks are governed 65 mph

Tanker

Must be 2022 model or newer
Trucks are reviewed for renewal every five years.
Wheelbase: 244” or less
Weight: 18,200 lbs or less with ¼ tank of fuel, gear and driver on board.
Must be equipped with roll stability and a collision avoidance system.
All trucks are governed 65 mph

Owner Operator Specs & Costs

Partner With Prime Inc.

When you partner with Prime Inc as an independent contractor, you take advantage of many benefits, discounts, and long-term stability in your trucking business with abilities to grow and add trucks to your fleet.

Weekly Pay

You are guaranteed to be paid timely whereas carriers on their own may be delayed waiting the pay cycle for the customer (payment terms can be 30-90 days) & be subject to factoring fees of up to 10% or more.
Stability

Due to long-term contracts with customers across the country, Prime Drivers benefit from rate and freight stability despite the ups and downs of the freight market.
Forgiven Payments

Independent contractors earn a forgiven lease payment after 2 years leasing and start earning 2 per year after 4 years of leasing. Value=$1,000+ per lease forgiveness
Mileage Charge

Reduction in mileage charges by ¼ cent after 6 years and another ¼ cent after 8 continuous years leasing a truck from Success Leasing. Value=$300 to $600 per year
Retention & Rewards

Prime contributes $1000 per year for contractors. Success Leasing contributes an additional $500 to the plan if leasing a truck through them. Value=$1000 to $1500 per year
